Potential Mouth Rot?

First - I'd like to say that I have already brought my boy to the vet and they have given us some antibiotics. That said, my vet couldn't tell me what was wrong with him, just to keep an eye on him and give him his antibiotics once a day.

With that said, does anyone recognize the sore at the tip of his bottom jaw as a sign of mouth rot? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Possibly a bite from a insect-- just throwing that out there- what are you feeding for insects? I am gonna a couple of people take a look at it

I've been feeding him crickets. I normally feed them to him one at a time, but a few days ago one was crawling on his face before I knocked it off. It must have been one that got loose in his tank.

Ok that could be the redness your seeing - any super worms? They too will bite

It looks red and a bit irritated, but it doesn't look like necrotic or infected tissue. It doesn't look concerning to me at this point. Keep an eye on it for the swelling or red area to expand or look worse, but it's possible that he just snagged it on something that irritated it.

Thank you! He has at tendency to jump as hard as he can at objects in his tank so he may have hit something a bit too hard.

Hello,

This does happen, bugs can bite sometimes. I don't see any yellow fungus though! You can use some
raw unpasteurized honey to help on the raw or slightly red area on his mouth, it is very safe.

Just giving an update, the red spot is still there (about two weeks now). It hasn't gotten any worse. It does seem like it's turned from that more bright red to a lesser pink. He's off his antibiotics now and the vet says to keep watch of the growth. Here's an updated photo as of today. What do y'all think?

Thank you!

I would also like to add that he tends to jump across his tank very very often. He typically misses whatever it is he's jumping for and can face-plant into the ground or hit the glass in his tank before scrambling back up to his basking spot or log.

I would take the pieces out he's jumping from

wow! my girl has the same thing going on right now! she also occasionally glass surfs and will fall down hard and i feel like it could have been her top teeth injuring her bottom jaw?? she has had this swelling for a few months now though without any improvement so vet visit is next week.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?

Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
