My beardie, toffee who is around 10+ months old has had treatment for an R.i. She was on baytril for 2 weeks, and though it didn't cure her of the clicking sound when breathing sometimes she hasn't gotten any worse, and the vet couldn't find any indications of anything other than that - he told me he had checked her chest, throat etc and couldn't find anything - she was basically completely healthy other than being a little overweight. Today I was browsing, and read about water aspiration. I figured that perhaps she had accidentally aspirated some sort of liquid, whether it be by me adminstering medication or something along those lines. I held her upside down, and she sort of weezed a little and when I opened her mouth there was a lot of what seemed like spit or liquid (what seemed like water) come up in there which she quickly fought to swallow down. Her breathing quickly cleared up and went back to normal and she brightened back up. Would this have been some water that may have gone into her lungs? While the clicking hasn't gone compeltely at this point - would this have helped or made anything worse? I'm not sure how quickly their illnesses can be cured or helped. There aren't really any reptile specialists where I live in scotland so maybe one of you could help me out.
She tends to lie under her basking furniture more than she used to nowadays, and doesn't always move to bask in the mornings. Though this sounds concerning, when let out of her enclosure she runs around like a madman and jumps and climbs and stuff, and when in the cage is still very alert. She hasn't blackbearded, she only really got a little annoyed when I held her up to attempt to clear water from her lungs.
Just in case you need it, the basking temp for her ranges from about 110- 100 depending on where she stands, her night time temps are around 67 and she has an arcadia 12% tube with a reflector, t8 about 11 inches away from where she usually stands.
Does anyone have any advice?
