Hello my daughter has a 4 year old male that had a prolapse last week. It was about the size of a grape. We Took him to emergency reptile vet and she was able to get prolapse back inside. He stayed at the vet for 5 days for fluids ,antibiotics etc but never pooped so we picked him up yesterday . When he’s in the bath tub he acts like he trying to go but only a little urate with a little blood comes out . He’s eating some and acting normal but nothing comes out when he
Tries to poop .he tried last night and today.when he’s try to go it looks like he could prolapse again but I’m not sure how it looks normally. Not sure if guts are twisted or impacted or something else or he just need more time.He was mostly getting soldier fly larva and sometimes squash. But trying to go to an all fruit and vegetable diet.

Hi there, sorry your b.d had this trouble. Did the vet put a few stitches in ? Can you post a full body pic of b.d and also if he has stitches ?

It's O.K if he doesn't eat or poo much, offer a little bit of raw pumpkin along with his meals so he doesn't have to poo too much, which could push the prolapsed tissue back out. [ only small meals for now ] Use a Q-tip to smear a dab of honey around and barely in to his cloaca. That can keep inflammmation down and also make it easier to pass his stool.

yes he had stitches for 24 hours and then removed. He has some meds for for for everything but just the straining to try and poop is worrying me. I see the colon bulging and am nervous of another prolapse.

They sometimes leave a couple stitches at the corners for a while to make the cloaca smaller. But this can work, hopefully he doesn't prolapse again. Keep him hydrated by offering water and keep the foods soft for a while.

Hello,

I don't blame you for being cautious. As AHBD
stated, keep him on softer foods to help make it
things easier to pass through.
Raw honey can help a lot, for avoiding infection.

Keep us posted on his progress.

Had a small hard poop today, but that’s pretty good. Vet wanted to do surgery yesterday for a twisted intestine because he hadn’t gone yet . So I’m gonna take some good news and try and sleep tonight.he is still on stool softener and others meds so hopefully he’s trending up a little with everything.

Hello,

Poor guy, I hope he starts to do better! You can also use some canned or fresh pumpkin, sweet potato
along with sugar free applesauce a few times per week to help move things through also.
