Hi I'm brand new here so let me know if I'm posting incorrectly but I have a 7 year old Male beardie that I've I got from his previous owner a year and half ago. His tail has always been slightly darker than his body but it seems like the very end has gotten even darker spots on it in the last few months. The more pressing matter though is I was out of town for a week having a fellow beardie owner friend take care of him but when I got home I noticed the very tip of his tail, like a quarter inch, was broken and hanging on by a thread. It didn't seems to be bothering him hes acting normal but yesterday the broken piece came off and now the very end of his tail is hard and kind of black on the edges of the break. I've soaked it in very diluted betadine twice and it's not getting worse but I dont know how the break happened and I just wanted some opinions you know ?
It looks more like a normal shed for the most part, but the very tip looks damaged. Be sure to keep that clean and apply some plain neosporin to help keep it from getting infected. If it heals over it shouldn't cause a long term problem but it can be a serious issue if it gets infected. Look for wounded or shriveled looking areas traveling up the tail as an indication of a problem.
