We took Nova to the vet the other day because she woke up and her belly was super super hard and back arched like she hurt herself. Vet said she has tons of egg follicles that weren't there a month ago, hence the hard belly, that she's uncomfortable. We'll, tonight, she's in her hide asleep and then suddenly starts frantically scratching, snout pressed into the floor and her back half of her body wiggling, like she was getting ready to poop, but waaaay more exasperated, kinda like those videos of the boy lizards do when they're humping something. We took the hide off and she didn't stop, wiggling real hard and like she was trying to dig through the bottom of the tank. Same for when we stuck her in the dig box. But when we pit her on the bed, it stopped after a minute and just turned around and wanted back in her tank. She crawled back into her hide and went back to sleep, like nothing happened. Nothing seemed to be bothering her otherwise but I'm ready to have a heart attack. Any ideas.??

Sounds like she is trying to lay them. Ruby shakes her rear end when she's trying to lay.

Well, I kinda thought so too but she didn't lay anything. She crawled back into her hide after we pulled her out and went right back to sleep.

I'd offer her a dig box and if she seems like she is struggling to get the eggs out, I'd probably take her back to the vet.
Has she clutched before? I can't remember. With all of Dreki's clutches I forget if nova had clutched as well.

No, nova hadn't laid any yet ans she's over 2. She does have a dig box and she was put in it but she pressed her face into the side of the box and kept frantically digging and wiggling. No eggs have come out. I picked her up to check on her, she seems okay and when I set her back in her bed, she kept her back end up a little, like she was almost getting ready to lift her tail to poop so maybe she'll lay.? I'm worried she doesn't have enough calcium to lay them or whatever. She stopped eating again the last few weeks so her calcium intake has dropped a bit, I believe.

Ruby always goes off food before she lays. I'm betting you have eggs soon.

Yeah, she definitely pretty much stopped eating again. Maybe a worm every other day or something, if we're lucky. And she keeps holding her stomach taut and tight up in herself, like she's tensing it and keeping it that way and takes forever to relax.

She's still sleeping now but it definitely freaked us out, especially with how she had her face turned straight down while drastically trying to scratch through the floor. Have I mentioned these lizards stress me the hell out.? 😫

Hello,

Poor girl, keep a very close eye on her. If she has trouble for too long, you may need to get her to vet for a shot of oxytocin which is a hormone to help promote muscular contractions if she is ready.
Keep her laybox ready for her. I hope she is doing better. Have you given extra calcium for her too?

Well, this was about 9pm last night so we didn't give any extra calcium to her. She's hardly been eating so short of some critical care, she hasn't been getting much. Is the wiggling due to the eggs not wanting to come out.? She hasn't done it again yet, she seems alright, maybe a little uncomfortable, if anything. I hope that was a one time thing and isn't anything serious

If she will take the critical care, you can mix a pinch of extra calcium in with it, that's what I've been doing with Ruby.

So, is the wiggling and indication of struggling.? She's done it a few times today and now that I've got a better look, she'll angle her vent down into the floor, if that makes sense.? Literally like she's trying to hump something. If she's having trouble, then she needs a vet, right.?

The wiggling is very similar to what Ruby does. I think they are trying to work the eggs down for delivery 🤔

That's so damn weird. Dreki never does that, besides the little wiggle while she's pushing the eggs out. Do you think it's cause for concern.? Like, should we take her in.? She's been doing it off and on since last night.

Gus - he’s a rescue!
How much water should I be giving my bearded dragon? He will only drink from a dropper when I drop on his nose and I’m not sure if I should give it to him until he won’t drink anymore? Or should I stop after he’s had a certain amount?
