And this is probably going overboard, but I have all of this on hand so I figured why not?
When researching and then compiling a bunch of different recipes for dubia chow or cricket chow, I've come up with this in an attempt to superiorly spoil and feed both dubia and crix at the same time without having to make 2 different mixes. Let me know what you think!!! Cuz pretty much all of you are smarter than me.
Cat food (high quality, dry): 4 cups
Shrimp pellets: 1 cup
Fish flakes: 1 cup
Guinea Pig food: 1 cup
Freeze dried reptile fruit mix: 1 cup
Dragon pellet bites: ½ cup
Cuttle Fish bones: 2
Oats: 1 cup
Baby Oatmeal: ½ cup
Cinnamon flavored Oatmeal: ½ cup
Honey Nut Cheerios: 2 cups
I haven't actually made it yet, cuz I wanted to see what people on here thought first. This is currently my theorized recipe.
I honestly use only Fluker's High Calcium cricket food (like the 5lb jar) and fresh veg regularly. That concoction seems to look fine, but I'm not sure you'll experience better results perse by doing all of that work.
I made a chow very similar for my roaches and crix, it was;
Baby cereal
fish flakes
bran flakes
Oatmeal
catfood
Bd pellets (i had them when i first purchased my beardie and later read their not so great and my beardie didnt eat them, so i threw them in, but ran out so now i dont use it, and i found that by not using it, my chow stays fresher longer. I think something with the fruit in the pellets?)
anyways, my crickets go CRAZY for this, along with a couple of orange slices, the are in heaven.
My roaches like it too, not as much as the crickets, but i also found that i can use it for my superworms as well (but that gets a little expensive using it as substrate so now they just have bran flakes and oatmeal substrtae w/ orange slices or potato.
Its great though, and not a big deal if i run out of an item, they still love it. I keep about 100 crickets at a time (im attempting to breed, but still waiting) but since feeding them this mixture, over 75 have matured and they are all very fat and i have very few die offs.
I call it "everything but the kitchen sink" lol
Looks like you have quite a lot of simple grains in there. You want the mix to be high protein, but not too high, as the crix need lower levels than the dubia. I have found both crix and dubia enjoy sugar tossed in the mix, too.

I figure that the honey nut cheerios and bd pellets both had some sugar in them already so I didnt wanna add too many much more... Also the freeze dried fruits/veggies have a very sweet smell to them. If it was a perfume, I'd buy it. Lol.
The dubia are eating it like crazy. The same amount seems to last a lot longer with the crickets though. Maybe that's because of the protein thing? I'm not sure if it's because I have less (200 crickets at a time versus a budding colony of dubia) or if they really just don't like it as much...
Both will eat just about anything. I keep it simple (chicken mash), sometimes I will grind up a packet of flavored oatmeal as a treat. They go nuts for it.
I use extremely cheap catfood, fish flakes, oatmeal, and cheap branflakes. I have a cheap old electric coffee grinder that i use to grind it up into a fine powder.
I use a coffee grinder too. I am very impressed with how well they works and seem to last. I have had mine for a couple years and it.still goes strong.
