So, I think *think* my bearded dragon is going into brumation but I'm really paranoid because she's not in the best health.
She has MD so she has troubles doing lots of things and she's been in her hide for about 28 hours now. I know that I'm not supposed to but I got paranoid and poked at her until she opened her eye, so if she is just brumating I just prolonged it.
So my question is, how can I keep an eye on her to make sure she's not *dead* vs brumating without bothering her? She really doesn't look like she's breathing but I've read that their breathing slows down when they brumate. She's 3 years old and the previous owners didn't mention if she's ever brumated before, I guess I'm just asking how often and how I should check on her during this time
Thank you!
Hi there, I doubt that's it's a problem as long as she's a good weight and nothing else is going on. Just keep her lights on as usual and offer water with a syringe on her snout about every 10 days but not misting her whole body. Check on her daily but wake her up to see if she wants a drink . If you really think she's sick or losing weight you can take her to a reptile vet . BTW, can you post pics of her and her set up ?
