Hello I'm a new bearded dragon owner and am wondering how many inches my heat source should be to my basking spot. In the 1st pic I feel like its too close to the heat source, in the 2nd pic it looks just right . The 1st pic the the one I've been using since I got him. Geralt is about 2 months old I think. Basking spot is about 105- 110 fahrenheit.
100 watt bulb.
2nd pic looks like about 6 and half from heat source
1st pic looks about 5 half

You need to get the basking surface spot temp-- digital probe thermometer wait 10 min then get the temp 105-110 adjust according - we normally recommend no closer than 8" --- what are you using for a UVB? No coils please

Ok would appreciate that thank you.
Here are 3 fixtures that are recommended and real good
You need a 24" fixture for a 40 + gallon tank
or this one
Arcadia ProT5 12% UVB Bulb With Hood this comes w /a 12% bulb
or this one this will come w/ a 5.0 bulb hang on to it for a back up distance and placement is different from the bulb you need which is a 22" bulb 10.0 T 5
when you get the fixture post back on here and I will help you get it set up in your tank placement and distance will be determine by your screen

Ok I've been doing some research and I found that maybe t8 10.0 bulb would be best if placed inside his cage. Because I can keep the branch in their while him still being 6-8 inches away from the uvb tube. Would that work?

You can use the T 8 if you like just make sure your changing the T 8 out every 5 months -- they say 6 I recommend 5 -- the fixtures are different -- the T 8 is a fatter bulb whereas the T 5's are skinner bulb

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
