The last few days Mort has started pooping about 4-5 times a day. It was generally twice a day before that. But today she had two later in the day that were just white urate and liquid. No brown poo. So I suddenly worried!
Her poos seem normal - white urate with nice firm poo when it's there (most of the time). Quite a bit of water but always has been so I thought she was just well hydrated? Not overly smelly.
Her diet hasn't changed other than being all crickets and no locusts this week (holidays, local shop not open). Still eating her salad fine. She licks water from the tip of her nose in the morning.
She's still very active and sprightly (and downright crazy running around the lounge, lol), lifts herself on all her legs, everything looks okay including scales, belly, vent, etc. No sign of any new shedding.
6 months old, had a big body shed just over a week ago. 13" long.
eep. Please tell me she's just growing or something!
quick follow up - had a bath to no effect (her bath day is tomorrow anyway), and she wouldn't eat her dinner crickets.
So just letting her rest for the night, it's lights out.
I would say that as long as she appears and acts healthy, I wouldn't worry about pooping frequency.
Like you said, it's probably a sign of of being well-hydrated.
Thanks. Since there were no replies I just carried on as usual figuring it might just be temporary since she was still producing at least one regular poo each day. She didn't eat crickets at all the next day either. But seems back to normal-ish now. (not sure normal is a word that applies to her at the best of times!)
Dear gods, I never thought I'd be talking about lizard poo on the internet.
Oh, poo is an important topic here, being that it is a natural process that may indicate the well being of our babies that can't talk to us. Most often, posts are accompanied by pictures.
