Freddy is my first beardie ever, first reptile too. She was always sleeping, so I looked up toys to make her. I bought her a bird mirror, got a lazar pointer, and hung jingle bells from sewing thread(bells too big to fit in her mouth). I've been busy this week, so I don't know when, but bells fell off the top screen. I didn't notice it until this morning. I had her in her bath, while I was looking for the missing bell, I found it under her pillow. The thread was mostly gone, I freaked out. Well Freddy pooped in her bath (completely normal for her) but the poop stuck to her, by a thread, the thread holding up the bell. Not all of the thread came out and she kept pushing. I cut the thread so she wouldn't hurt herself from pushing too hard. I feel so bad about what happened and I'm wondering what I should do to help her. I'm so afraid, it's thin thread, but I'm so worried about her
Sorry to hear about your concern...hopefully Freddy will pass it with no problem. Feed her as usual and if the thread is not wound around her intestines she should be fine. If she begins to look very distressed [ black beard, straining, possible gaping or extremely lethargic with black beard ] then you would need to get her to a reptile vet ASAP to be sure it's not tangled around some organ. It will probably come out fine. If you see it protrude again, try to very , very gently pull on it....but only do so if it comes along very easily. The minute you feel resistance it would probably be best to stop.
