Hi, I just got Arie yesterday, he came home at 2p yesterday and it is 9:40 am. He hasnt eaten at all. I had a few crickets in with him all night and I made him a salad, but he just seems to want to bask. I know the temp. is finally right. Is this a big deal or am I just being a first time worring mom? Thanks!....Amy
just getting used to his new home. Giving a week or so and he will be eating like a champ. crazy critters get stressed from relocation and they get off diet til they get used to their new home. when they get hungry they will eat.
Yeah your baby is probably just getting used to his new home! Are the crickets the right size? no bigger than the space between his eyes. Make sure to offer nutritious greens like Mustard greens, collard greens or turnip greens. If you would like to go over your tank set up let me know!
Mine did the same! He took a week almost to come round then still didnt eat much! You will worry but soon you will realise these lovable pets are very robust and hardy!
Hi Thank u all so much! His crickets are small, the right size. I have been making him fresh salads with mustard greens, collard greens and dandelion greens. I tried hand feeding him, but he has no intrest. I have thermoters in his tank. He has the calcium sand, a hammock, and a branching thing to bask on. The temp. on the hot side is 85 degress and around 78 degrees on the cold side. Does this all sound right? Ya I am worrying a lot, I have also been misting him and one good thing is he has been drinking. Thank you all so much, i tired calling the store i got him from but of course no answer. Thank you!

Remove the sand immediately it is very harmful it can cause impaction and the cool side needs to average 82 and hot side 102-110 and be sure not to mist him every day. every other day is fine. and give him a bath around 1 week after you got him. also you might have to hand feed him(live crickets or freeze dried dusted with calcium) some beardies just need a good head start.
As the PP said, your temps are not right. Conditions have to be proper or it is possible that he will refuse food.
To attain proper temps, you have to have a proper thermometer. The only good options are a digital thermometer with a PROBE or a temp gun. You can get a $12 accurite thermometer at walmart. To measure the temps PROPERLY with it, lay the probe on top of the hottest point, under the heat bulb, and leave it there for at least 45 minutes. These thermometers are great, because you can put the main part on the cool side for a good ambient temp reading.
As another poster said, too, remove the calcium sand immediately. It will be ingested and it is NOT digestible. It clumps up inside their bellies and can not be passed. It is dangerous.
Also, do not leave the crickets in with him. They can stress him out, but most of all, they will bite him and can leave sores.
