Hey guys. I've had Ike for 2 months now and he's been really good. These past two days he has been acting off. It started off as him just twitching, mainly in his head but a little twitch in his body and was exhibiting signs of shedding. Then yesterday he wa spasticity running across his cage trying to climb out. He was trying to climb up the glass wall, I have a mesh top and he kept trying to climb onto it directly under his basking light. All his temperatures are correct, he has the right basking light and a reptisun tube light. Today he has just been basking all day, he hasn't pooped yet which is usnual of him. He usually does it early afternoon every day. I'm scared something is going on with him and I don't know what to do to help. He eats repriworms everyday and is offered salad but generally doesn't eat it. He gets all his vitamins. He gets baths several times a week. Any other info I need to give just let me know.
Q1
Has it become very warm / hot where you are lately ?
Q2
when and how did you last measure his temperatures ?
Q3
Exactly what is the basking light (globe) = wattage, coloured ?,
Q4
Exactly what is the size of the UVB tube (ie T8 or T5) and it's UVB rating in %UVB
Q5
Is the UVB tube in a reflector hood ?
Q6
Is the UVB tube and hood sitting ON TOP of a mesh tank top ?
My suspicions are :
a) no enough UVA getting to the beardie because it's either not rated at least 10%, is too far away and or it's being blocked by the mesh top.
b) tank might now be getting too hot and the beardie is trying desperately to find a comfortable place to thermoregulate and can not anywhere in the tank.
Q1
Has it become very warm / hot where you are lately ?
It has but on the days he started acting off it had cooled down we also have AC on and fans.
Q2
when and how did you last measure his temperatures ?
It was a few hours ago and I have a digital with a probe.
Q3
Exactly what is the basking light (globe) = wattage, coloured ?,
It is a normal house bulb and the wattage is 115. There are no colors.
Q4
Exactly what is the size of the UVB tube (ie T8 or T5) and it's UVB rating in %UVB
I believe it is T5 I just need to go find the box.
Q5
Is the UVB tube in a reflector hood ?
It is in a hood.
Q6
Is the UVB tube and hood sitting ON TOP of a mesh tank top ?
Both the basking light and uvb are sitting on top of the mesh tank top.

Aha !!!
Strongly SUGGEST you mount the uvb tube and hood UNDER the mesh top
>> will move it closer to the beardie (GOOD)
>> will have an instant increase in UVA and UVB by over 30% (VERY GOOD).
I really think the shivers are likely due to UVA deficiency. I had a similar issue with Rex about 12 months ago when I forgot to replace her UV bulb and the one she had was a few months past the date I should have replace it.... the shivers disappeared within a few weeks of my installing a new UV bulb.
