New dragon parents here.
Our lady lemon laid an egg last night and 5 today. We were not expecting. Yes they are furtile and we had no means to do the right thing. This morning before work I tried a few things. I put eggs in potting soil in a container. I had no choice
. I tried wrapping saran wrap over them while under light. They would just shrivel up. So I left off. Returning from work quickly a d not finding any verticumilte at first store I came home to yellow solid sunken eggs. Two seem ok. I tried all the tips o line without incubator. They have red embryo and veins. The most makes them shrivel the heat is baking them. My girl is not done laying. We are all stressed. Helpppppp
What are the temperatures & humidity that you are keeping them in?
The potting soil is fine, is there vermiculite or perlite in it?
I know AHBD should see your thread, she has bred quite a few babies in her
time with dragons.
If the humidity isn't high enough, they will dry out.
Is your girl doing well?
Hi there, were you able to measure the temperature while you had the lamp over them ? If it was too high it may have killed them but now just try a better method and see how they do. You could mix perlite or regular play sand with the dirt [ keep the eggs in the same position after you move them ] Some pet stores sell something called hatchrite. Be sure that the substrate is moist but not wet. That's very important. Did your plastic container have a lid ? If so, put holes in the lid and put it back on, either use a drill or a hammer + nail to make pretty large holes, about 2 dozen holes. With no incubator you can just put the container in Lemon's tank in an area that is about 80-86 degrees. Or in an area in the house that temp. if you have one . Check that the soil is moist every week, if it feels dry, carefully add more water around but not on the eggs . Use a syringe or very carefully a spray bottle.
