So I need to replace my old light fixture. It was very difficult to find anything that was 30" long and could fit a 24" bulb. I'm not exactly happy with what I could find, as everything was awfully expensive, so if anyone could help me find anything cheaper, that'd be awesome. My light is not mounted on the inside, so it'd have to be able to sit on top of my screen lid. (Yes, I do understand that it can filter out 50% of the UVB and all, just humor me)
I was going to spend $38 on an All Glass Aquarium 30" Fluorescent Strip Light, but as I read the reviews I found out that it is Aqueon brand (which I could care less), and that it fries your lights and breaks in less than a year (that I cared about!).
I've been told I could find something at walmart/home depot/lowes, etc. but I've searched their websites and couldn't seem to find anything of the right size. Could anyone give me the name brand of the light you bought for cheap and/or a link to a fixture I could use?
That's the brand we use, and when we bought it, we bought it from walmart...They don't have the cheapies online, you actually have to GO to the stores and check their racks.
Alright, so I bought the one you recommended. It was only $8!! My dad helped me mount it to the screen lid. I'll keep and eye on it to see if it's damaging the integrity of the screen, but if not it's staying there. I'm happy to have a new and quiet light fixture that is mounted on the inside of the tank. Now Freddy is getting all the benefits of his UVB light!
