We are home! Elvis perked up right when I got him situated in his cage, so I was able to give him his first dose of Metacam for the pain. I had to take all the climbing stuff out of his cage, so he has alot of handwarmers under him and towels and blankets, cause I gotta keep him as warm as possible. He had a little runny poop in the car, but I guess thats a good sign.
So the vet said it went better then she expected. The tumor got out easily because it wasnt embedded in his teeth like she thought. His jaw bone got pushed out a little, but she expects that to fix itself. They sent the tumor out to be biopsied, because she couldnt get all the cells out and she wants to see if it might grow back. (hopefully not) Oh, and I guess I have been giving him to much calcium because the bloodwork came back and it was minorly elevated. Whoops
o thankyou so much for not giving up on the little guy xoxo elivs how did his surgery go you are doing a wonderfull jobif there where more people in the world like you the world would be a better place
Yeah!!!!
Way to go little Elvis, he looks so sweet & so sleepy. At least he is alert though. That is an excellent sign for sure.
Definitely let us know what the biopsy reveals. Hopefully it wont be cancer!
So they were not able to get all of the cells, they were too deep? Maybe it will not grow back though. Thank you for giving him such a good chance, I know that he appreciates it.
Great job! Give Elvis a hug for me.
He definently isnt asleep now! He was up pretty much all night, just checking out his cage. I luckily didnt have school yesterday, and today I get out at 11:20 and then have the weekend with him!
Yeah, some cells were too deep. But atleast he can close his mouth fully and eat solid foods in 7-10 days. But, I got him pea and chicken and carrot babyfood, since they are his favorites!
Thank goodness the tumor wasn't embedded in his teeth. What a relief! Hopefully the biopsy results won't give us any bad news **thinking good thoughts**
How is he today?
Hi,
Today is another good day for Elvis He was up and alert pretty much all day, and he took his meds and ate 8 syringes of babyfood! I cleaned his cage, but its kind of boring now because he has to stay extra toasty warm these next few days and cant climb alot, so I had to take each log and cave out, and put blankets in. So, this is what his cage looks like now. (there are hand warmers in between each blanket)
And then some of him:
Hanging out with me on the bed:
You can see how his jaw is pushed up, and the blood is from the stiches, the vet doesnt want me to clean it until the stiches dissolve though. But, when its all clear and his jaw fixes he'll look and feel much better:
Sleepy time! These were taken right before bed:
Well, thats pretty much it for today! Thanks again to everybody who donated, because this surgery couldnt have happened without the help of all you guys
Great that Elvis is eating so well now. His mouth probably feels a lot better.
So when the blood gets cleaned out his jaw should align better & his mouth will close completely also. The stitches should dissolve pretty soon, too.
He looks very sweet!
I'm so happy for you and Elvis! I'm glad his surgery went so well and that he's on the road to recovery. I'm sure he feels much better now, or at least he will once he heals up.
Oh, he is SO cute, I just want to give him cuddles & kisses. He is such a trooper and looks much better already. Kaitlyn, you are a real trooper too, you have given him everything he needs and lots of TLC. We are all so happy to have been able to take part in helping him and you and that it all worked out. Wishing Elvis a very speedy recovery and to be completely free of any future treatment once he is all healed. Tracie, thanks for bringing this to our attention so that we COULD help.
