About a week ago after i moved. My beardie Bambam started clawing and running into the left side of his cage for hours at a time. It looks like he wants to escape. Ive tried everything in attempts to get him to stop. I take him out 2 times a day for an hour each time, feed him fresh greens daily, lots of fresh water, changed his cage around, added more heat, took away heat, put up a background, etc. He keeps me up at night, i cant concentrate during the day, and its getting the point where i cant live with him anymore because its messing with my everyday life. Somebody please provide some suggestions because i dont want to have to get rid of him. Also, i just recently seperated him from another beardie from his litter about a month ago. any suggestions would be helpful.
When I was getting ready to move I had done some research on this site about how to reduce the stress on my beardie and came across some great information.
I found that you should try to keep as much as possible constant for them (ie. cage setup, and scenery in the room you keep the beardie in). It seems to have helped me. I also found that my dragon likes to be in high traffic rooms where he can watch what we do and come out of his cage as often as possible.
It may sound weird, but i had all the same issues. just recently i let my dragon look out the window from the window sill for about an hour while i thoroughly cleaned his viv, and when i let him back in, he stopped scratching. a few days later he started again and i let him look out the window again and he stopped afterward and hasnt done it since. it is the only thing i can do to get him to stop. maybe its because during the summer i took him outside almost daily and now i cant due to winter?
