Ok let me start by saying I am NOT handy!! I know how to screw in screws without stripping them and thats about it! But I love my Kai and I knew I had to do something! So this is how I finally mounted my uvb under the completely inappropriate screen top (see pics). with zip ties The center support bar still blocks some rays and I know all you handy people have a better way, but right now, its up, its better, hes 12 to 15 inches away and I got the plug through and the light works! And my hands are shaking and I need a drink (j/k lol). Through it all, Kai calmly watched me. He is pissed because he wants superworms and he got them a few days ago so nope! Heres my hack job but its sturdy and the zip ties are heat and uvb resistant. I could have left more slack but Im not smart enough to figure out how to change the bulb from i side the tank anyhow. At least its all set up so in 6 months it will be super easy to change the bulb and pop in some new zip ties! Thanks for reading all this haha

Btw, please tell me the "zoomed" logo, seen on the right side of the hood, is supposed to face the front of the tank and the plug toward the back!

It does not matter which direction. It can be put up how it works best for you, i.e. where your outlets are.

Your Kai looks very much like my Taco, btw. :) And he's a brave boy not acting out when something like this is done. My Taco once puffed up when my husband did a bit more work inside of the enclosure.

Like mentioned above, position it however gives Kai the best uvb exposure.
It isn't pickey otherwise 🙂

Kai HATES greens! No matter what you do to sweeten them up (bee pollin powder, flower toppers, throwing in a small worm and hiding it under the greens). Little bugger will toss greens everywhere, pick the worm out and eat it. He has had (and hated): collard greens, dandelion greens, kale, turnip greens, baby arugula, celery leaves, butternut squash, yellow squash, bell peppers, and once I even pjt a little cilantro in there. I make the gosh darn critter a fresh salad daily! All organic! He gets 6 bugs or worms 3x a week and when its not a bug day, he throws the greens around and scatters them all over the floor of his enclosure. I have tried them chopped, grated, whole leaves, moistened and less moistened. He will eat bugs in front of me but never greens. So I cant tell if he is eating any or not, but definitely not whole leaves like I see some dragons do! I was going to do bugs/worms only twice a week since hes an adult but I cant bear to see his little hunger strike so I usu give in and give him that third bug day! I think he has my number!

Gosh Im trying but I cant overlap them! This screen opens across the front and back instead of left and right sides. The dome bulb fixture takes up the whole width of the back screen and my basking temps are perfect. I just cant afford to buy another heat lamp right now because Im paying for a custom tank as soon as it is in and done. That tank will be a dubia front opening with bkth lights correctly mounted inside. An exotic reptile store owner is coming to my house to set it all up for me. But it isnt ready yet. Could take a month because he is doing me a huge favor. Ive already paid for a third of the price of this. Will a side by side setup work for now? He can go back and forth. Im gonna get a solarmeter too but thats another $240! The t5 10.0 hogh output is new, bought less than a month ago I cant angle the uvb because my tank width is only 18.5 and the light is 24" and the dome lamp for heat is BIG. This all happened because I bought a 75 gallon AQUARIUM instead of terrarium. It is 4 ft long, 21.5 tall and 18.5 wide. Ugh. The new one when it comes will be 4x2x2, dubia enclosure.
