I've been digging around for a suitable substrate for when my dragon arrives on Wednesday, and having no luck with finding self-adhesive linoleum or drawr liners, I was conaidering slate - or similar - placemats.
They ones I've been looking at are square, so no jagged edges like you night see in restaurants and I envision them slotting together fairly easily (and if not, slate is pretty easy to cut).
If that wasb't suitable, then maybe plastic placemats with some sand glued on top and then seamed to give them more grip.
No adhesive shelf liner --- Home Depot or Lowes if you are in the states has it-------------- or slated ceramic tile same place just as cheap-- not sure on the stuff you want to use - others on here can respond to that and have other ideas

I would think that would work--- just dont use the stick on --- just lay in there -- so you can pull it to clean and I would put paper towels under it to catch the urate --- that way its soaking into the paper towel and not bottom of tile
