So after a quick visit to the vet on Saturday, and establishing my girl is actually gaining weight and is healthy, I’m now on a mission. My girl was hunger striking for the last week because I, god forbid, tried to get her to eat some new veggies to diversify her diet.
Her favorite leafy veggie is radicchio, she’s obsessed. Didn’t include it in her salad last week so she stopped eating for four days. Put it back into her new salad mix on sunday, eating like crazy. /eyeroll
Any tips to help make my beardie a little
less picky? I want to include more diverse veggies in her salad so she gets a better mix of vitamins but she just refuses. Also so in case the store is out of radicchio (which is the only reason I didn’t put it into her salad) she doesn’t hunger strike again.

I didnt know what radiccchio was so I looked it up and this was what I found Radicchiois not healthy for beardeddragons because it contains high amounts of oxalates, which can make your beardeddragon sick and cause kidney problems over time. Is radicchiogoodforbeardeddragons? Yes, radicchioisgoodforbeardeddragons. Just make sure you don't feed it too much (1-2 leaves per week). BeardedDragons can eat radicchio, but it is more of a treat rather than a staple food source. ... This is good to keep your BeardedDragons weigh regulated

Well that's super frustrating information to learn, as it's on the list of approved vegetables for staple feeding from my vet which is why I started buying it in the first place. Well now my beardie is clearly addicted to it so any advice on how to ween them off and enjoy other veggies? We literally just got done with this hunger strike so I don't want to move backwards.

Still feed it mixed w/ other greens don't feed it w/ stuff he doesn't like try other greens- prickly pear is a good staple feeder you can order the pads off Amazon- last time I bought them they were $10 for 3 huge pads keep in zip lock bags in fridge and if they start to turn black on edges I just cut them off- I understand about moving backwards but you haft to think of her health- unless someone replies on the raddicchio I would feed sparingly
