Hello,

I agree, a lot of vets still prescribe sulfa based drugs for Coccidia. As Sue had mentioned, it doesn't really
kill it but rather keeps it in check per say. The Ponazuril or Toltrazuril will literally wipe it out. If he is doing
well, eating & basking, he most likely doesn't need any meds. If his stool continues to improve, you could probably wait & let his immune system kick it out.
You can give it a few weeks to a month or so if you want to get another fecal done.
Let us know how he is doing.

It's up to you if you want to give him the meds. but he'll prob. be fine without. Some of the meds. can be harsh and then the vet will retest so you'll need to get another fecal test done.
Ok, if tomorrow he has a perfect poop, I won’t give the meds, vet is aware I might not use them and felt confortable both ways, do you know when I should do the 2nd fecal? bcuz I will skip it if not necessary (130$)

Update : Wilson’s poop remains smelly (as it ever was) but no more diarreah!

I did not give him the medication, 💊 I follow his weight/appetite/ and basking time closely.

Attached is the tracking of his latest poo

Thank you all for the advice, I plan on doing another fecal at the beginning of june, just to be safe

Hello,

Great, that's good news he hasn't had diarrhea anymore, he should be starting to feel better. It
does take awhile for their system to flush things out when on medication so definitely give it a bit of time.
Getting another fecal soon will hopefully show some lower levels.

Is she lethargic or just napping? Mine all nap. She shouldn't be lethargic though.

Also, when you get the fecal, maybe you could ask for some bloodwork too? If you feel she is lethargic. Just a thought, I am by no means an expert on whether there is a need for bloodwork.

I did not know they could nap, 💤 I thought day nap= sick :O .. she did bask, eat , free roam and play in her bath, she looks a liiittle slower than usual

@Sue yes she is shedding on her tail, elbow and becoming gray on her whole head, I thought it might be that but idk… Yes she is EXTRA hungry, asks for second plate of veggies 🥗

wow it does make sense, i feel so dumb rn
Oh dont feel bad..I used to absolutely freak out when Kai had a sleepy day, until the first sunny day when he started being all perky and out all the time, climbing all his stuff. You get so used to hearing that they need to bask, need the uvb, and sometimes they just need to cool off and chill out. At about 530 pm today Kai went to one of his sleep spots and kept looking at his lights, then at me, then back to his lights. He wanted lights out soooo badly! I felt bad that they are on a timer.
