has anyone else had this problem? i have a 25 gallon tank with about 100 crickets in it i drop Pakelika in twice a day for 10 minutes to feed, i also leave mealworms and vegies in his main enclosure all the time. when put into the cricket tank he watches the crickets walk past him, then will launch at the shells of the crickets not the live ones, once all the shells are cleaned up he wants their gutload or to get out, whats his problem??? shouldn't the crickets be the tastier option??? bit of help or let me know if its normal or just plain weird? is there any nutrition in the cricket shells, being exo-skeletal wouldn't it be high in calcium? maybe he is craving this?
Looks to me like he's just going for the easier target since he goes for the gutload after cleaning out the shells. Either clean up the cricket tank before you put him in or feed him in a separate container and drop the crickets in there. He should get the hang of chasing his food pretty quick, he's just been spoiled by the slow moving mealies. Also, you should think about switching to superworms.
