I am just wondering if anyone knows any of the symptoms related to too much UV exposure? The reason I ask is because I have a Repti-Sun spanning the whole length of my tank and may be a reason she never comes out of her sleeping spot? Just a thought..Thanks for any help!
if the light is 8-12 inches away, the beardie shud b good. they need this light so its weird that its hiding from it. maybe its somehting else. semi-brumation maybe.
Yea it is about 12 inches away besides the basking spot. I am treating her for pinworms so that might be part of it but i didnt know the meds could have such a strong effect.
The ReptiSun should actually be 6-8" from your beardie for optimal exposure. How are your temps in basking and coolside?
What are you measuring the temps with? digital thermometer w/probe, stick-on, temp gun?
How old is your beardie? It could be the onset of brumation.
I am thinking it may be the meds she is on. They can be pretty harsh on a beardie.
Are you giving your beardie a probiotic, such non-dairy soy yogurt, to help with her good gut flora? Those meds can really be hard on their little tummies and make them feel poorly.
How is her appetite?
Did you have your beardie on a different UV bulb previously. I used a repti-glo when I first got John Casey (I know, I know...I thought I had the right one and corrected it as soon as I realized the Repti-SUN was better! :? ) and when I changed to the Repti-sun he seemed to avoid it for a little bit (I would change its position and he would move out of the way  silly lizard) but he eventually got used to it and doesn't hide from it anymore...
Well the light is 6-8 inches from the basking spot but not the whole tank. The rest of the tank its about 12 inches away. So wait are you saying it needs to be 6-8 inches throughout the whole tank?? I do use probiotics I have baby food and I use acidophiliz. Her appetite is not great at all I syringe feed her a little and thats all she wants. No superworms or anything she just doesn't have the appetite for it yet. I just thought since she really doesnt have anywhere to go besides under the log(which she spends her whole morning unless I move her) that maybe she is being overexposed and hiding idk
Also i forgot to mention her basking is 100-102 and cool side is lower to mid 80s I measure with an acurite from walmart
