So today was cleaning day for my lizards. Leopard gecko was fine. She loves it when I clean her tank and enjoys being picked up. No problem. So then I remove spike from his tank, no problem. Let me scoop him up. Then I tried to bring in outside in the sun. He hated it. Puffed out beard. Black beard. Open mouth BIG. Didn't like the my shadow and started running around crazy in his tub. Luckily after cleaning his tank he let me scoop him and out him back.
I had to go out and do laundry here at my apt (I hate not having my own washer and dryer!) and decided since it's a bit of a walk that I'd take Falkor with me to get some fresh air and sun since it was a nice day.
He was on my shoulder soaking in the sun but anytime a shadow from the trees fell upon him then he'd get all dark and puffy and he run down my arm.
I can't help but wonder sometimes if living inside makes them a little agoraphobic. It must be quite shocking the first few times (or maybe even always) to go from inside a house/cage where it's relatively dark and always has a blank non-threatening "sky" to the great out doors.
Hopefully Spike can get used to being comfortable outside with you
