He is about 9 years old, and a little less than a week ago he stopped opening his right eye. There has been a small amount of gunk but its cleared up. I've been putting a small warm water honey solution on his eye gently and the first time i did he opened his eye briefly. He isn't gaping, no more sluggish than he has been the past few weeks during which I think he was brumating. I have noticed pieces of shed on his underbewrd and on his neck/hands. Maybe a shed stuck?
I'm a bit concerned now, and I feel his lighting set up is inadequate with the current caretaker. They put some strange chinese non labelled light as his basker.
Ok we'll keep treating w/ the honey/ water mixture- until we can see him and his enclosure lighting we can't really help --- make sure there are no crickets in the tank - that honey will draw them to the eye

Make sure your getting basking temps w/ a digital probe or and infrared heat gun - they should be 95-110 on his spot he basks-- where is the T 5? On top of tank or inside tank?
Karrie
I recommend both- digital probe PetSmart or Petco $5-- infrared heat gun your local home improvement store $10-12-- doesn't need to be expensive- inside tank you can use long plastic zip ties- fishing line- shoe laces - 3 m Velcro hangers- picture wire hanger --- 12-15 inches from basking decor - on top of tank wide holed 8-10 inches from decor - fine mesh screen 6-8 from decor - no cover over bulb needs to be exposed

It looks like shed -- take a soft tooth brush in the bath and gently wipe to see if you can get it off --- is the other like that too --- ? post a pic of the other eye - just so I am not seeing something thats not there and missing something else
