I don't run a jungle dawn, but I do run a terra-sky in one of my habitats. It has 65k leds as well as uva and uvb.
My girl has been considerably more active since I installed it.
Personally beings it just on one side I'd probably be leaning towards he has gotten something in it. But if I remember correctly, liver issues can cause swelling in their eyes so it my be something do to his liver.
Edema I haven't researched, so I won't even try to guess on that.
Edema itself isnt a condition..its a symptom, like cough, frequent urination etc. Its basically a medical term for swelling or excess water in tissues. It can be caused by a whole host of condition, kidney disease, heart disease, etc. Whether and how reptiles exhibit edema Im not sure on.

Hey guys! Sorry it took a while to get back, today has been very draining.

He hasn't lost any weight, he's 609g, the same as mid April and even up 30g since February when he lost his appetite (probably from the herbivore emer-aid, butternut squash baby food, etc)

Emergency vet has put him on an antibiotic injection and eye drops for the next little while. I have a follow-up visit with my regular specialists on Friday and will update then.

He is currently doing well, which I'm so happy for.

Thanks for everyone's input, it was comforting to have people help brainstorm causes and solutions :)

You may want to give a probiotic while he is on the antibiotic to help maintain his appetite and restore his good gut flora. Antibiotics can be rough on their systems. If you do, our vet tech here @Drache613 has a great website bug-de-lite.com, which has Reptophillus, a reptile-safe probiotic. You can run it by your vet if you want, a lot of vets agree that probiotics are good while on antibiotics.

Hello,

That's great he hasn't lost any weight. Syringe feeding definitely can change their appetites some, just
due to having to be fed, etc.
I hope the antibiotics & the eye drops help out. He probably just has a bit of a mild infection, hopefully
nothing serious.
Let us know how he is doing. Be sure to keep him a little warmer overnight, to help keep his system
boosted.

Hey guys!

Sorry for not getting back for so long, but Raxtus is still hanging in there! We went to our usual exotic vet and he was put on a diuretic to hopefully help clear some of the edema. He was on it daily for a few days, then every other day for a week. There was a huge difference! His poops had lots of extra liquid (vet said this is what would happen) and his edema looks to be the least it's ever been since February.

He willingly ate a salad topping from my hand the other day (first time since February!), and is still okay with bugs but only took one medium dubia roach on bug day most recently vs 3 medium the previous.

I'm wondering if perhaps his teeth hurt and that's why he's reluctant to chew? He's been accepting 2mL of slurry every day (double what he would before the diuretic). I've attached pics of his teeth from today when he so politely "screamed" for a long enough time for me to snap some photos. They look pretty gnarly to me, and I'm gonna start doing better at brushing daily with the maxi/guard oral gel stuff.

Hello,

That's great to hear Raxtus is doing better & improving. At least he has lost
some of the excess fluids with the use of the diuretic.
His teeth/gums don't look too bad. Of course, it never hurts to try & keep their
teeth cleaned with gentle brushing. His gums are a little pale, so he could be a
little anemic from not eating very well right now.
Hopefully he will start eating more soon also. Keep working with him on eating
his greens, they can be very stubborn!

You can try using a low wattage indacandscent bulb for extra light- solar glos mvb have been used and have caused eye issues w/ some dragons not all- thats just an example so it may not be the jungle dawn causing the issue but it's a trial to see and rule out- are you using a solid clear bright white basking bulb? No daytime bulbs? Off white yellowish ? It could be an infection starting as vet suggested - so blood work would need to be done

Hello,

I am not sure if the lighting would be causing the eyes to tear up. Though if for some reason the light was bad then it could be bothering the eyes. Does it look bright enough in his tank?
How is his appetite doing?
