We've had our beardie since he was 2/3 months old, he's now about 6 and massive! As a young beardie he was very active and playful, he has never eaten many greens but loved live food. He is getting more and more lazy, is this normal for an old dragon?
He seems fine, his temps/lights etc are all ok, sometimes he doesn't fancy eating and refuses worms/hoppers, he still doesn't eat many greens - and he sat the other day with a hopper on is head! When we get him out he either tries to hide or he lies on us and sleeps - this may be due to our over enthusiastic young children, maybe he can't be bothered with them.
I've tried searching the forum but can't find much about behaviours of the adults. Tell me about your old guys
The older ones certainly tend to be calmer than the young ones. Their personality and activity level seems to vary quite a lot between them though. Their appetites do decrease quite a bit since they aren't growing so much. It also may depend on what kind of activity is offered to them. Some like to look out the window or roam around and explore. Some are content just sitting on a log and basking.
I completely agree, the older ones vary greatly in their behaviors. Some of course, are more
active than others but most spend more time basking & relaxing. Well, except for when the
mating seasons starts, then your adult will suddenly become a lot more active if you have a
female in the house.
If your boy is content to bask but still has a good appetite, there shouldn't be any problem with
that. They can get lazy quite often!
That's always nice when they lay on you, relax & sleep!
