I got 200 small crickets yesterday. Oh boy.
They were in my room in a big plastic bin, where I've been keeping crickets so they don't keep escapeing the cricket keeper. It had been working great. 0 escaped crickets! Untill my brothers cat showed up...I usually don't let cats in my room, I ALWAYS shut my door. Well... I forgot about my door while I got the dragons some fresh salad. I come up with the salad, and oh shoot! crickets EVERYWHERE. The bin was dumped, cricket feed all over my floor, crickets everywhere!
Theres only about 4 or 5 dozen on the run now... any advice on how to catch them?
Try putting toilet paper rolls, or paper towel rolls around, or anything like that. they like to hide in them. When they get in, put your hands over both ends n dump m back in the bin. Then keep the cat out.
Use a dustbuster. The suction is gentle enough that you should be able to catch the crix alive. You can tuck a stocking in the hose of the big vacuum. They don't always survive that if they are small.
Oh boy. They've made it into my brothers room too. Oopsies.
I let Rambo out to catch some before, Now the problem is they're all pretty hidden. I have shallow dishes with food and water soaked cotton balls all over the house.Theres cardboard tubes all over too. I've gotten a few back...
Heh, thanks...
Rambo likes being out so much to hunt down crix. Twiggy, well... she's a little tiny yet to hunt my room without insane supervision.
My brothers cat has also been hunting the crix. Pulling the legs off and leaving them at the door to my brothers room.
It's not unusual for many of us to have a few loose crix in the house. I keep mine in a 30 gal aquarium in the kitchen. Not often do they get out, but I look at the chirping as camping out yr round. You will, no doubt, hear the chirp coming from all corners of the place for a while. Good luck. 8)
