Hiccup he is 6 and Blaze is 5
He has, I think he still needs to be closer though. I'm going to look and see if there are any tall basking/hide platforms available. I think he's gapping because of the mouth problem, I'm not sure if I'll be able to help with with that...
What is the distance? 8-10 inches for your screen -- did you do what CooperDragon had recommended w/ his mouth?

Ok, so here is another attempt at getting him closer to the light.
Unfortunately he fell off, so I took that down.

Ok so I remeasured and its 12 inches above! So I'm looking for something that I can put under the basking hide log to boost it up.

Hello,

How are things going? It is challenging sometimes to get the distance of the lighting all correct.
The 12 inches isn't bad, really. It would be good UVB exposure but if you can get it just a bit closer, that would be ideal.
Keep us posted on him!

Alright today he feels a bit stronger but is still got medium black beard. Also I was able to get almost all the black stuff out of his mouth, maybe that will help him feel better now.
Going to look for anything around the house that I can use as a platform booster to add a few inches.

Hello,

He still has a bit of a darker beard? Hopefully he will start feeling better so his
beard will be more normal color. What are you using to clean out his mouth?
Good luck finding something that can boost the platform a little bit, for distance.

Yeah he does. I've just been using a moist qtip and taking it out with tweezers.

Hello,

You can get some betadine & dilute it down to where it looks like weak tea
to dip the q-tip in for cleaning out his mouth.
I hope he is doing better soon. Did you find something to help boost his
basking platform up a couple of inches or so?

I'll see if I can get some.
Unfortunately I did not. However I do know where some pieces of wood are that I can use, just have to make sure there clean.

Update this evening.
So he fell on his back three times in the last hour today. He seemed fine all day, but just the last hour now he's been fussy and falling off.
I struggled to find something to boost up his basking platform. But now its easier for him to fall!
Also my family is planning on moving, but we might have to movie in February, so I don't know how to keep him warm, we're going across the state. Also don't know if he will even survive until next year.

OK, another update.
So I was trying to keep him under the UV light, but after a minute or so, he would start crawling away and fall. So I put him on the basking log, which is farther away from the uv light, and he's just sitting there!
Whats going on now? Does he not like being under the uv? He's farther away from it now then I think he should be. Whats up with this?
Also the heat light I'm useing is a 75 watt bulb, I had a 150 watt in there but it seemed to make it too hot.
I'm trying, but....

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
