Hello,

Great to hear. I'm glad that you have ordered both lights now. Definitely take him outside if the weather is good, that does wonders for them. Be sure he is secured so he doesn't run off or get scared.

OK, so I got the light today, but not the fixture. Hope that comes soon. He was outside for a bit today, I don't think he liked the wind though.
Also oddly he apparently had some kind of skin infection or something. A patch was shedding and when it came off there was a hole like a missing scale! I don't know what thats about. had no idea there was a problem there until today.
Poor little guy....

Hello,

For now, I would try to put some raw unpasteurized honey on that area, just to help it heal up.
Sometimes when they shed, a scale or two can retain or come off prematurely causing a little bit
of skin damage. It doesn't appear to be fungal in nature or infected at all.

Thanks for the advice, I'll see what I can do.
To me it looks like maybe last time he shed a scale was damaged and caused it to not grow right this time.
There was no blood or anything.

OK, I have the fixture and the light now.
So I need some advice about mounting it.
My photo shows how the current setup is with my home made light mounter letting the fixture hang down a couple inches. The second photo shows the screen mesh. What I need to know is if my fixture holder will let the new much more powerful light be too close? and also if the screen mesh will block too much of the light? Also I reposted the other photo showing how far it is from his basking spot and the second basking platform. It looks to me like he would be in the "danger" area too close to the new light, as it would hang down a bit farther then the old one. But I think on top the screen would be too far away.
So what do you guys think?

Well this is how far away from him it is when on top of the screen. I'm not happy with that, it looks too far to me.
But the bigger problem is that it won't turn on!
Honestly I'm feeling defeated now. You can see here that Nova is gaping even though the heat light has been off for a couple hours now. So yeah he must have some infection or something. But I', assumed the fixture or light is no good and I have to send it back and get a new one. Of course they only accept returns if the original pakeage is intack. I'm just feeling defeated now and maybe i should jsut let him go

Check the plug in -check a different outlet - is the basking light on -- have you blown a fuse-- he may have a RI -- what is the humidity in the tank? Any mucous or wheezing going on?

I wouldn't call what he's doing wheezing as theres no sound. He has saliva strings sometimes, but not mucus discharge. He has light black beard though.

That is so frustrating -- do you have the packaging it came in? If its sunny and warm where you are get him outside for good UVB till the other one comes
