Nova has become very sick

He is the same today. He seems sleepy, he's basking with his eyes closed now. I've been giving him zoo med repti calcium powder. Also having some trouble keeping him warm at night. In the morning I check his temperature and its been 66F to 71F.

Are you using a heat emitter ar night? If not I suggest getting one. They make good heat but no light

I've been useing a heat mat, but it gets too hot. It was perfect when the air conditioning was on.
I'll look into a heat emitter too.

Honestly heat from the bottom is not really a good option for beardies anyways. The heat emitters are much better

Yeah, its just my house is super old and drafty so I've had a heat mat. I actually don't think I've seen heat emitters in any pet store before.
Also I still can't figure out if something in the tank is bothering him as the dark beard go away when he's out. Could it be the reptile carpet?
Anyway, I'm heading out now. I'll be back latter.

He could be bothered by his own reflection. Try covering the sides and back maybe.

I didn't consider that as he's been in the same enclosure for a few years now.

Lighting outside the enclosure can effect the reflection also. So he might not always see it.

Hey people I just wanted to post an update.
So I got new stuff for him bask on. Not quite how I had pictured it being, but I'm going to try that. I could put the wooden log ramps back and see if he can climb on them easily with it set up this way.

He's climbed over it and is basking now. But still has darkened beard and stress marks. It only goes away when I take him out.

I agree it is possible he might be seeing his reflection which can definitely stress them out. If his
beard is still darker than it needs to be, then either something is stressing him out of he still isn't
feeling 100% yet.
Is he basking a good portion of the day right now?

Yeah, my poor little guy. He seems to have been overbread and also some kind of sudden sickness happened in late october I thought he wasn't gonig to survive the night, but when he did I started this thresd.
