Ruby, Sinatra, Zsa Zsa
I use this for a hide and basking decor
I use these as well in my two tanks
I have the tortious version of the first one for Sinatra. It's big enough for a climbing surface, and big enough to hide in

It sounds like your bearded dragon might be dealing with a respiratory issue or irritation, which could mimic the symptoms of a sore throat. While it’s true that reptiles don’t catch human colds due to species-specific viruses, stress or exposure to something in your environment during your illness could have weakened his immune system. His behavior, like avoiding the basking spot, might suggest discomfort or difficulty regulating his temperature. Keep his enclosure warm and at the proper humidity levels to help his immune response, and monitor closely for signs of a respiratory infection, like mucus or labored breathing. If his symptoms persist, it’s best to consult a reptile-savvy vet, as they can provide targeted treatment to ensure he recovers quickly.

Hello,

Does he have a black beard all day or just from time to time? It is always possible he wants to try &
brumate but if he is exhibiting signs or symptoms of illness then I definitely wouldn't let him brumate.
Is he basking for part of the day?

Hello,

Have you double checked the temperatures for his basking to be sure they are correct?
It is always possible he is trying to brumate, as a lot of them do this time of year. Is he
maintaining his weight or losing weight?

When on the basking spot his temperature is in the low to mid 90's. Earlier this year he was having problems that seemed to be overheating, thats why I got the temperature gun. I had switched out the stronger heat light for a smaller one. He seemed to recover from that and was good all summer until last moth.
Anyway I want to show some photos. So he black beards when warm, and also has become clumsy at walking. Getting himself all smushed. But then he is able to hold his head up well, and gapes normally. However the wide gape and sticking tongue out in the last photo looks weird to me.
Yes, since this started he has lost weight. Right now he is basking but not black bearding.

I see no black beard and I dont see the tongue sticking out -- your best w/ a digital probe thermometer for getting surface basking temps - I would go by that

Hmm, I think my camera doesn't pick up the color right.
Anyway he did darken up again after basking for a while. I've put a small dish of water in there to see if the humidity was too low for him. And yeah I'll look at getting a new humidity meter or something soon.

Hello,

He looks very good there, alert & happy. He is having a good time basking. How is he doing
today? Have you tried liquid calcium to help him in case he is running low in calcium reserves?
Let us know how he is doing.

He is the same today. He seems sleepy, he's basking with his eyes closed now. I've been giving him zoo med repti calcium powder. Also having some trouble keeping him warm at night. In the morning I check his temperature and its been 66F to 71F.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
