I'm finding that the more plants I can keep alive year round (ie native duh lol) in the water, the better the cultures do each year. Apparently it's so good now that frogs will breed
Also learned my tropical lily pad will not go dormant in the winter in the new location I moved it to temporarily last year. Gonna leave it in there as it's the best product in and move my sticklebacks in there soon.

That's also what I would expect: That makes a little ecosystem, and having it as complex as possible stabilizes it.

I just saw the first free swimming tadpoles when I moved the plants a little. Tomorrow and the next day the kiddos friend will be over all day. She is going to be so excited. I bet we spend all day watching tadpoles while he sulks and plays video games alone lol Don't mean to laugh, but take a minute from spring break to just enjoy life.

You couldn't keep me out of the water if there were tadpoles when I was kid lol. Even as an adult I'd still be watching them
