I'm in the process of building him a new tank so he's been spending a fair amount of time out and about as the current tank he's in his rather small

Looks like he's enjoying his time out of the enclosure! If he likes being in the window (this is common) you might try building a platform for him in the window sill so he can sit and look outside.

My plan is to build an extension out the back of the tank that heads out the window. Probably won't do it till next year though since winter is going to be here in like a month
