This is my first experience with beardie brumation, and I have to say . . . I DON'T LIKE IT!!!!!!
For the past week and a half, Pookie had been sleeping almost the entire day and not eating his yum-yums. The only day he stayed awake until I got home was Oct. 31, the 1 year anniversary of him being with me. When I woke up this morning, I tried to wake him up too, but he wanted nothing to do with it. He was all limp when I picked him up away from my arm and placed him back down on the bed, then I covered him back up with the covers. A couple of hours later, I went back into the bedroom and tried to wake him up again. He didn't even open his eyes when I softly said to him "it's wakey time". I had left him alone for about 5 hours, still all tucked under my covers, snoozing away. Finally, around 4:30p, I went to wake him up for the last time and boy was that a mistake. I had turned on the lights and pulled the covers all the way back, and was stroking his back and foot. When his eyes finally struggled to open a slit and realized that he was no longer all covered up in darkness, he shifted his right eye so far back to the right to look at his bare back that I thought his eye was going to get stuck that way. He glared at his bare back and the missing covers that way for almost a minute. To avoid being the receiving end of those scary glares, I decided to cover him back up and leave him alone.
Even with Zim sleeping on top of him (don't worry, it was only his feet - and Pookie had shifted after being squished out of his spot), he never woke up.
I miss my Pookie snuggles
