So I just got my beardie yesterday. and this is my second night with him. when I turn off his lights, he within minutes will go to the corner of the tank and go under the paper towel i have down for his substrate. Is this fine? or should I move him?
(I moved him last night to his little cave. He slept there all night. I did the same thing tonight. And he's sleeping there again. But is it necessary? is he fine under the paper towels?
Im sure it will be ok but I wouldnt let him/her get in the habit of doing that or you will catch him doing that often. I would change his substrate to the reptile carpet. It works great for baby bearded dragons and its stiff enough to lay flat in the cage so he wont be able to easily crawl underneath it. He is probably trying to find a hiding place for him to sleep at night. I used to get my beardie out before bed and he would fall asleep on my lap then I would put him in his cage and he would just fall asleep right where I set him down. lol
Had this problem with my new baby. I put int he repticarpet and she stopped going under but now shes shoving herself into the corner of her tank. so tonight i picked her up and tucked her into a peice of fleece and covered her....she hasnt moved since
Beardies love the burry into something when they rest/sleep. Very normal, just as above, add alittle something for him to hide under or burry underneath and he'll be happy as a Cla...Beardie should be.
When he gets more comfortable with you, and you have him out of the Viv on a late hour, you'll find it the cutest thing to watch him snuggle close to you. He'll find something to push his snout into, or your neck to rest against. Much love.
When the lights go off, or are about to go off and my beardie is tired he tries to stick his head inbetween his two basking sticks lol. When I see he is getting tired I take him out and put him on my bed, then he goes and (a) digs in between my pillows and goes to sleep (b) runs around like a crazy man lol (c) will go under the covers and sleep. I usually wrap him in a fleece blanket when it is bed time and put him in his viv and he comes out in the am when the lights turn on usually lol. Sometimes I have to wake mr. grumpy up haha.
Yep, nice soft blankies are wonderful. I felt so bad because it took me awhile to figure out to get her one. Now she loves it,,gets held in it every night, even after she goes to sleep, then gets laid down in her viv and sleeps in her blankie all night.
