Hello everyone. Im a proud owner of 10 weeks old baby beardie. Just wanted to ask because a guy with “lot of experience” told me that “use of a ceramic bulb is not needed for night time heating as you do not need a warm nighttime temperature as they can drop as low as 5°c naturally in the wild”. Im currently using Intense Basking bulb 150w in 4x2x2 vivarium. I did some research and i found thats “true” but wanted to make double check with you guys. My room temperatures drop at night under 15C because its winter now and outside temperatures are -6-7 for few days. I turned off the heating last night and temps was 10-14C. Any help will be useful for me. Thanks in advance and sry about my professional english 😄

Whats ur opinion about what i asked? I would like to know. He was comfy last night in his hide to be honest on that degrees. 😊 I need 2nd bulb holder but not sure which thermostat i can use for CHE so i can make it automatically turn off/on because im working till late nights and cant wake up early to turn it on/off. Im currently using digital dimming thermostat on/off set on 08:00/20:00 for my basking bulb.

You should be able to use a regular timer for the che- I have one I have used in the past that you plug your lights into - let's have cooper dragon help you w/ this @CooperDragon

Got it. Should i install the bulb holder in the top middle of vivarium?
I have my two sitting on top of the screen middle of the tank and the 100 watt bulb I use for my two 4x2x2 tanks keeps tanks around 70 F on those really cold winter nights - I dont use them if its not below zero as the tanks stay around what my house temps is at night which is around 72 F

As seasons change in Australia the temps. can drop pretty low at night but there are things to consider. As that time of year approaches most beardies would have found or dug a burrow that would stay warmer during the night and many would be older, most likely not babies. So taking that chance in captivity where they have never experienced those temps and have no need to is not recommended. As Karrie mentioned, a CHE is recommended, I don't use one but my house never gets below 60 F [ 15 c ] in the colder months and then my adult beardies ALL brumated without waking up for 2-3 months straight. That's with my furnace set at 67, beardies in my basement where it's cooler.

What if i put timer plug to turn on/off my CHE with thermostat, will work properly right? Or im wrong. Because this is a good idea also very cheap 😄

I'm not sure because I don't use them. Karrie or Claudius would know, Karrie will probably return to post more here. Oh and I wanted to mention that your little dragon is a beauty, what's his/her name ? He looks very well fed , what do you feed him ? Just a tip, they love to eat but we do feed them too much sometimes so be careful to not over feed him. Quick growth can be hard on their body in the long run so feeding them less so we don't see a big belly is better for them. Oh, and your English is good ! Most Americans can't speak more than one language , maybe some Spanish since it's the second most spoken language in the U.S

Oh O.K, Bulgaria is a beautiful country ! Do you miss it ? Now you're in the U.K , so are there many dragon breeders there ? You have a more unique morph.
The feeding 2X a day is really the old way, I mean if you feed him 4-6 small bugs twice a day it's O.K but otherwise they can gain weight too fast.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
