My bearded dragons night temps get down to around 63 degrees which I know is too low. I do not currently have a CHE but I do own a underpad heater. I was wondering if this would be a good option for making night temps better without a CHE?
I've noticed my beardie is eating less and sleeping more and I wonder if it's to do with the night temps. He refuses crickets entirely and only eats salads and will never refuse a butterworm or superworm.
He is just over 6 months now and I had sorta wondered if maybe the cold temps are pushing him into brumation.
I think in your case, you will need to invest in
a ceramic heat emitter
a second ceramic light fitting
a cage to prevent dragon from getting too close to it or touching it
a thermostat to control the ceramic heat emitter 24/7.
Yeah you'll want to bump the temps a little. 10 degrees would be about right so you won't need much. I suggest either a low wattage CHE or a MegaRay heat projector. You can hook it to a thermostat or just have it on a timer to come on overnight. I'd cheat it to one side of the tank so when it comes on it still provides a gradient with some temp options for overnight.

Any suggestions on brand of CHE? Also would the underheater suffice until that arrives? I figured id put it on one side (the side he doesn't sleep on just to bump the temp a little.
The heat mat won't help project any heat. It will work if you have it under a tile or something like that. They heat more through contact. The temps aren't low enough to be really harmful though. It's just not optimal is all.
