I recently got my first dragon (Ceasar) yesterday. I know nothing about his history other than he is an adult, is a male, and is 16" in length. He looks to be shedding right now, but there are some really dark brown areas on his tail and his sides. I know adults shed in patches so this could just be old skin that hasn't started to fade in colour and shed off yet. It looks like parts of it can flake off near where it meets the skin lighter skin beside it. Anyways, he is still shedding on his face and i noticed today that near the tip if his mouth there is a little bit of blackness. This is my first dragon so I'm farily worried that he could be developing mouth rot, or maybe it's just from shedding. I plan to take him to the vet in a week or two after he settles in. Here are some pictures of his mouth area.
Hi there....Caesar appears to be healthy and in good condition. Nothing at all going on aside from an uneven shed, which is very common.
Mouth rot would affect the inside + gums of the mouth....reddish looking infection and even a cheesy looking pus are signs that a dragon would have mouth rot.
So he looks fine....you might even let him settle in for 2-3 weeks before stressing him with a vet visit.
That's good news! My girlfriend told me he's probably fine but I'm just paranoid because I want him to be okay . He isn't sitting on his basking branch right now but some people are said that when they shed their behavior is very different and they will sometimes sit half in the shade and half out which is what he's doing now.
