You need a good solid bright white basking bulb -- I am thinking this Tekizoo gives off a yellowish hue you dont want that or colored bulbs or off white or Daytime bulbs- good bulbs that are bright white are examples Flukers Exo Terra Zoo Med Reptibasking bulb or Arcadia Halogen bulbs etc -- you will also need 2 digital probe thermometers to get surface basking temps -- T 5 's are really good UVB's they need certain distance and placement depending on your screen --what kind of screen do you have is it a fine screen like a screen door or a wide hole type and what size is your tank ?I just had a quick question! I am waiting to go buy my first bearded dragon, and I got a big used set for him and it came with the "Tekizoo super sun reptile light". I already ordered the "Reptisun T5" light but would this be acceptable too? Could I use it along with the T5 light for heat?
And how old is the dragon pleaseYou need a good solid bright white basking bulb -- I am thinking this Tekizoo gives off a yellowish hue you dont want that or colored bulbs or off white or Daytime bulbs- good bulbs that are bright white are examples Flukers Exo Terra Zoo Med Reptibasking bulb or Arcadia Halogen bulbs etc -- you will also need 2 digital probe thermometers to get surface basking temps -- T 5 's are really good UVB's they need certain distance and placement depending on your screen --what kind of screen do you have is it a fine screen like a screen door or a wide hole type and what size is your tank ?
Where exactly do I put the thermometers then?? It is a fine screen. I was under the assumption I would just be putting it in the cage? But how far away from the bottom? Tank is 55 gallons right now. Do plan on upgrading later on though. So I just need a bright white basking bulb instead of the Tekizoo? You need a good solid bright white basking bulb -- I am thinking this Tekizoo gives off a yellowish hue you dont want that or colored bulbs or off white or Daytime bulbs- good bulbs that are bright white are examples Flukers Exo Terra Zoo Med Reptibasking bulb or Arcadia Halogen bulbs etc -- you will also need 2 digital probe thermometers to get surface basking temps -- T 5 's are really good UVB's they need certain distance and placement depending on your screen --what kind of screen do you have is it a fine screen like a screen door or a wide hole type and what size is your tank ?
The thermometers when you get the basking light place the probe on the basking decor leave 10 min or so get the temp - for a baby you want temps 105-110 for a 5/6 month old or adult 95-100-- the uvb needs to be directly over the basking decor 12-15 inches- if you need help w/ things to hang let me know I can post some things to use and yes about the tekizoo- you need the basking bulb I posted earlier and your uvb - uvb's do not give off heat they do but not what you need for temps--Where exactly do I put the thermometers then?? How old is the dragon?Okay and then what is a good supplement schedule for him? I have Calcium w/ D3, Calcium without D3 (both are Zoo Med brand) and then a multivitamin with beta carotene (Rep-Cal)
Ok - so your going to need temps for him / her 105-110 and he / she should have the insects dusted 5 x per week ONCE per feeding w/ calcium d3- multivitamin 2x per week ONCE per feeding- he won't eat a lot at first as he will go thru relocation stress- but w/ good surface basking temps and uvb he will acclimate to his tank faster- let him get adjusted to his tank and surroundings- I would let him settle in for at least a good week - then start hand feeding him maybe hold him a little in the tank - make sure you start feeding salads too- please no meal worms they are too harsh on babies stomachs- I would get some small bsfl ordered for him feed as many as you want they are great staple feeders for babies- feed them on top of his salads- please don't dust them - I would also get him on dubias a better feeder and easier to keep- pet stores are expensive for insects - you can use a 10 gallon aquarium and feed stuff you feed your dragon-- I would get some dubia food and dubia dew as well - here is a website for them and the bsfl also known as nutri grubs- go by the chart on this site for ordering dubias- www.dubiaroaches.comI'm getting him from pet smart as soon as they get more in so they're just little guys. I'm not sure exactly
I do have one more question, what are the veggies and fruits to avoid? I know there's a long list of healthy ones but which ones do I need to stay away from?Ok - so your going to need temps for him / her 105-110 and he / she should have the insects dusted 5 x per week ONCE per feeding w/ calcium d3- multivitamin 2x per week ONCE per feeding- he won't eat a lot at first as he will go thru relocation stress- but w/ good surface basking temps and uvb he will acclimate to his tank faster- let him get adjusted to his tank and surroundings- I would let him settle in for at least a good week - then start hand feeding him maybe hold him a little in the tank - make sure you start feeding salads too- please no meal worms they are too harsh on babies stomachs- I would get some small bsfl ordered for him feed as many as you want they are great staple feeders for babies- feed them on top of his salads- please don't dust them - I would also get him on dubias a better feeder and easier to keep- pet stores are expensive for insects - you can use a 10 gallon aquarium and feed stuff you feed your dragon-- I would get some dubia food and dubia dew as well - here is a website for them and the bsfl also known as nutri grubs- go by the chart on this site for ordering dubias- www.dubiaroaches.com
