Wow, the one looks much better. Since Kirby has not been eating and looks even thinner to you, are you going to supplement with chicken and squash babyfood? That may give Kirby the boost he needs.
Ok good. Since he hasn't been eating much at all, he probably isn't getting much calcium either. You could add a small pinch to the baby food mixture, then dilute with just a little water or Pedialyte to make it thinner. Heat in the microwave for a few seconds to take the chill off. Then use a plastic medicine dropper and put drops on his nose for him to hopefully lick off. It may take a few minutes for him to get the idea but once he gets a taste of it, he should really like it. Yes, let us know how it goes.
Ok i got the squash and chicken baby food, i put some on his mouth and he licked it off , but he finished licking it pretty fast and started cleaning his face by rubbing it against my finger. i guess he ate more or less one 1/2" cricket size worth of baby food or maybe a bit less...
Well since i cant get any butterworms or phoenix worms anywhere because my reptile store is out of them untill the end of the month, i ordered 300 small phoenix worms from ghann's cricket farm, so i should be getting them on wednesday afternoon. i hope it wont be too late..
EDIT: Ohhh man I really hope this little guy makes it until Wednesday. I cant afford it to die ! I don't want that on my conscious! I wish there would be a way to like, force feed it ... i dont know if it can take 4 more days without eating... I'm trying to keep it hydrated by soaking it every day and putting water+ collard greens in the viv but i dont know... I'm so worried... one thing that i havent mentioned either is that he has not grown anything since tuesday... he is still 4.75" ... what if i adjust the basking to 110-115 degrees ? maybe she might like it ... any advice ? also at that age (again its weeks almost 7 weeks old) is it better to bathe it or just spray it ? help please... its crazy how this topic was mostly about the skinny boy and now the one that has me stressing A LOT is the baby.... should i just feed it the wax worms ? because i have noticed its the only thing it has eaten... even though it only eats 1 a day i think its better than not eating anything...
I know its scary when a baby doesnt eat but try not to panic.
Ive been there. My baby would only eat a little salad. No bugs and no calcium powder. It was very worrying but after trying everything we finally found a way of feeding her that would make her eat protien (in a small BROWN bowl-we had tried two other coloured bowls + feeding outside her viv). Miso is currently small for her age. At 4 months old she is the size of a two month old but now that she's eating is growing like lightening.
There is hope, and she can catch up.
Feeding him babyfood with vitamins in daily should sustain him. If you are getting desperate you can give him one waxie a day which is dipped in babyfood to boost up the nutritional value.
In terms of babyfood i would try giving it to him twice a day if he'll only lick for a little while.
Generally its better to bathe than to mist. Misting too much can raise the humidity. A nice 15 minute bath a day should keep him hydrated. Just drip the water onto his nose so he can lap it up if he's thirsty.
ok today i added sand in the babys viv and he seems to like it... even though he has barely eaten , i have noticed that he notices crickets a lot more when then walk around... hopefully tomorow when he wakes up he should feel "more at home". i know its bad for babies but i just want to get him to start feeling comfortable and eating . once he does that i will remove the sand so he doesnt run the risk of impaction.
Hi, I'm glad to hear that he is licking off a little baby food. It is possible to forcefeed that we could help you with but is much more stressful for them (and for you.) I would just continue offering the baby food 2 to 3 times a day, all he will willingly take. Have you tried handfeeding the live foods to see if he will take it that way?
What did you have on the bottom of the tank before? Is the sand play sand or calci or vita-sand? Since babies are clumsy eaters, they will ingest sand when they reach for a cricket, etc so it is taking a risk. Is he quite active? Did he eat anything at all today?
its playsand that i bought from home depot. he seems more active now that he has sand than before . before he would just stay at one place for almost a whole day. i did try to hand feed him and he only ate 2 mealworms (im still waiting for PWs to get here on weds) he did nt pay much attention to crickets but as soon as i added the sand and put 3 crickets inside i saw him staring at them for a while so atleast they cought its attention. before the sand what i had was paper towels be he seemed much less active with them than with the playsand....
EDIT: i just want to let you guys know that the big skinny boy is no more of a concern to me anymore, hes doing great at eating everything , im very happy for him. now my only and main concern is the baby kirby.
Ok i dont know what is going on... when i got the dragons (the big skinny male, the baby, and a female) first it was mostly the male that wasnt eating, now hes eating like a pig, then its the baby that is barely eating anything, and the female started giving problems eating yesterday and today, she has ate only 2 crickets.... and when i first got her she would eat like a pig, and now this.... what is going on ? the only thing i could think about is the rain ? cause its been raining a lot the past 2 days... and they are all outside (under a roof of course).
Well due to the rain and the fact that i live in south Florida, yeah its gotten pretty high. Yes they are all housed outside, they do no live together, they all have their own tanks, and they cannot see each other i covered the sides with paper.
Should I consider buying the Reptaid ?
EDIT: Regardless i ordered a Reptaid normal, hopefully this will fix the issues, i should be getting it tomorrow.
Ok, i gave it the dose , .025 ml i think it was , and about 3 hours later, i went to check up on it, and when i picked it up it threw up a phoenix worm, and it pooped 2 mins after in my hand, is this due to the reptaid or something else ?
Sometimes if they eat too much, they may throw up, but I am not sure about yours since it is on meds. And the poop could have just been timing on you picking him up when he had to poop
