im using a new beading the same they use for gerbils and hamsters. http://www.mccrackenspet.com/images/carefresh.jpg when she chases her circkets and missed she bites it once and spits it out. Im wondering is this is ok beading. Is it an impaction hazard? or Is a taste on it make beardies stop eating? Also i request a picture of The correct thermometer a picture of Repti-sun 10.00 the flourecent bulb holder. A picture of an average cage and a pic of The vegis you give her. Please answer quickly i worry for my Beardie every minute. Shes had horrible care due to the Pet stores fault. They gave us false info according to this website and my beardie has been lazier and looking less healthy. Ive been posting and making changes but i still need to make a couple of more adjustments.
oh my yes! Anything particle such as this will be an impaction risk, just because she spits a few out dosnt means she will do it all the time. Also just beware the parasite issue whne using these.
Beardies dont actually need bedding, although some people like to wrap them up in blankets  i just give my female a rice sock (its not warmed) to lay on, and she loves it! She will snuggle into that at night, and god forbid i have to change it once a month!
This is an old picture of my tank:
I have had to remove a few things and change the basking platform. I use a digital thermometer gun, not one with a probe so i cant show a pic of that, but acurite thermometers from walmart are very good.
Hmm ill give your tiles a try if they are tiles. My Parents are concerned for using newspaper or cloth in my Beardie cage There afraid its a fire hazard since theres a Heat lamp and a Heater connected on the bottom of her cage. where did u obtain tiles like that. And how do u clean it if your Beardie leaves a present on it?
yes they are slate tiles and they just come straight out IF she ever poops on them, shes more a fan of my bedding!
Please turn off the undertank heater, im not sure if you know but beardies are not designed to sense heat from below and if it were to short out and overheat (which they often do) he wont know he is burning until its too late!
If you can't find tiles or think they are too pricey, try the non-stick shelf liner (Lowes, Walmart, Home Depot, etc etc) have it. It wipes off really easy also. You can use moistened papertowels to wipe any poo/pee from it, make up a vinegar/water solution in a spray bottle and use that to mist a papertowel to wipe with.
But the person we bought it from told us to get the underheater. Hmm. will it make her 2 warm? Every time im concerned about her temps because of what you guys told me about the stick lights. Id feel her back and if its warm im happy if its cold im sad. its always a little over normal. we moved her into the hall way where the thermostat is and it says around 76-80 but in the cage it says 78-85 could this be correct temps since the cage is a little enclosed and could store heat? O yeah back to the bottom heater so am i supose to rip the paper thing off?
Yes the undertank heater is very dangerous so please either unplug it or take it out completely.
What are you measuring the temp with?? Round dial type therms are anything up to 20f off, you need a really reliable thermostat for herps such as this, the accurite brand is whats recommended over there, from wallmart i believe.
PS are those cool side temps?? If so they are quite high, 70-75 is best.
