Okay, we brought a new baby beardie home a little less than a week ago. First, he has only eaten a very few crickets and not much more. I mist the cage once per day and he is in a 55 gal. tank. I have a Reptisun 5.0 tube light for UVB, the temps in the tank are 100-110 in the basking area, the cool side is around 80-85 and he has 2 hides (that he doesn't use). I can't hardly get him to eat and tonight he is very lethargic with a foaming discharge coming from his mouth. He keeps bobbing his head up and down and he doesn't act right at all. When I try to pick him up he seems to just lay there. I don't know if he will make it through the night at this point but I don't know what else to do. I have tried to get him to eat crickets, blackberries, mustard greens and even waxworms but nothing works at all. The humidity in the case is 20% so it's not too humid, I just don't know what to do at this point and really need someone who knows what is going on to help. This is my first beardie and I don't want to lose him. Thank you all in advance for your help
Sorry that your beardie is not doing well. I dont know, but the foaming at the mouth could be a respiratory infection, but I am not sure. I figured I would at least bump up your post and maybe someone else will have some ideas.
I'm sorry you lost him.
If you just got him less than a week ago, it probably wasn't your fault. It sounds like he may not have been healthy to begin with. Babies can be very sensitive. Definitely try again!
Where did you get him from? Try buying your next dragon from a breeder, they are much healthier than most pet store dragons. We have some great breeders who are members of these forums, and they have some really beautiful babies.
