Hello! Here in about a month my husband and I are going to be taking a week long vacation and his mom is going to be taking care of our baby Crunch for us. The tank he's in right now is a very heavy 40 gal that we really don't want to move between the two houses. Are there any options for a temporary housing tank that's easier to move for his week long stay at his "grandma's"?
Something like https://www.bunnings.com.au/all-set-149l-storage-container-with-lid_p2583377 , they are very good ( W:575 H:480 L:790 ).
Very easily converted like this this is how I rig up my rearing tubs : viewtopic.php?f=34&t=233480 (all you need is an electric soldering iron (to melt maybe 200 high and 200 low ventilation holes, and electric drill -driver to attach a Nano hood UNDER the lid (only need 2 screws to hold it) and piece of plywood offcut to attach a basking light.
But I'd simply attach a ceramic e27 fitting to the plywood plank and use a MVB to give heat, UVA & UVB , and leave the lid off , only placing the lid on overnight to keep warmth in the tub , for at granny's, and maybe a small animal carrier suitable for a cat made of cloth for while travelling.
I agree, the plastic totes from Walmart are great for just such a thing. You can easily rig the lights on top, this is how I used to set up hatchlings when I was raising them years ago.
