I have an adult male.. Turned 1 in august... Who hasn't been eating for several weeks now. He acts ok.. Just more sleepy.. Here and there he will eat something, but mostly I've been syringe feeding him.. Which he gobbles up just fine. He doesnt poop but once every few weeks epithet.. But this is another topic...
For now... I just syringe fed him... But he chewed off the plastic end of the syringe and swallowed it. It was prob 2-3 mm long and maybe 1.5mm thick... It was round, obviously... Anyway... What should i do? Give him mineral oil to very him to pass it? How much? I've had a beardie die from impaction.. And am pretty worried.. Ill call the vet tomorrow... But i guarantee he will say wait and see...
I think he'll be fine. There have been others on this forum who had the same experience, and none that I recall turned out badly. It should pass right through, but you can give him some canned pumpkin mixed with baby food squash, also anything else he might want to eat in small amounts. That should help move it along. As for him being sleepy, it is the time of year for that [ brumation ] There is no need to try to feed them if they don't want to eat. During a true brumation, they can go months with no food, it's natural for them. By the way, Kirby is very handsome.
I thought maybe it was due to Brumation... But my vet said he may have a deadly parasite and wanted to do a full work up... I said I'd wait a bit... Plus my female who the exact same age sleeps alot... But still eats like a pig... So i wasnt sure. Hes lost quite a bit of weight.. But doesn't look sickly.
So yer saying i dont have to blend crickets up and get crickie juice all over me during syringe feeds? God bless you dear Angel!!!! Lol...
Ill weigh him when i get home from work tonight.. But he looks much thinner.. Hes part german giant... And has a large frame... But skin is bagging some. Je feels lighter when i pick him up too...
