I'm in the process of replacing my bulb system for my 45 gallon tank (48"x12"x17"). I currently use an MVB and a basking bulb for additional heat/uva during the day and a ceramic at night. I would like to change to a UVB tube setup, but I'm not sure if I should go with 2 18" bulbs (1 reptisun 10.0 and 1 reptisun 2.0) placed end to end to light the tank or should I go for 2 36" UVB tubes running parallel? I think the 2 36" would cause too much glare and hurt my BD eyes. Please advise.

General rule of thumb is you want the UVB light covering 1/2 - 2/3 of the tank. I'm assuming 12" is the width of the tank (which is generally considered way too narrow for an adult), so one 36" bulb will be fine. The heat light / basking light should over lap the UVB.
thanks for the information. I plan on getting a new tank fairly soon, either the 18" or 24" deep. I just need to find a local place that has carries one that has sliding front panels, if thats a no go, then I'll have to order online.
