Hello my bearded dragon eggs are 72 days along now an still nothing but there was this weird thing that started yesterday that I've never delt with before. One of the eggs look dented but was hard. I made the choice to lightly mist the egg (which I know really isn't good ) to see if it would soften the shell it did. I've done it three times now but I see no pip in the egg can anyone give me a clue to what's going on? ( temps around 83-84 f an humidity is staying between 70-90)
Ok new update there r three eggs now that r doing the same thing. I'm hoping they r hatching but I don't see pip holes yet or noses. I'm kind of getting anxious. They all have big babies inside I've been keeping a close eye on their development. I really hope they r ok
Hi there....has the vermiculite stayed damp all this time or is it drying out ? If the eggs get too wet or too dry that can keep them from hatching. Usually once the eggs collapse a tiny bit the babies come out within about 24 hours. BUT....if the eggs are deflating because they are too dry you need to add water gently + carefully to the vermiculite which usually plumps them back up. Spraying the eggs may kill them, although a very light mist may be O.K but you must be careful.
I check the vermiculite every day I only keep it damp around the egg . Because of over wetting it. An the humidity going to high. It all seems fine. I don't understand why the egg got hard like it did that only happens when they r hatching an the egg drys out . It's got me totally perplexed.
Still nothing the humidity is at 85% currently an temp still the same an the egg shell is still soft . I hope they didn't open the egg below the vermiculite . I had that happen with one before, the poor little guy couldn't find his way out .
No, you can leave the lid on....the only time to take it off is if the lid were actually full of so much condensation that it was dripping. The eggs look good,[ from what I can see ] don't be so worried.
Ok thank you. I'm trying but it seems something always happens when my clutches start to hatch x.x an this one has taken the longest all otHer only took up to 65 days this one is working on 74 .
Omg baby! I just looked an there he was. It's not one of the dented in eggs but this just raised my hopes. Crossing my fingers for the three dented ones . Also my eggs never sweated only about two weeks ago around the bottom where the dirt was
