Does anyone know of a reptile rescue near Hernando County, Florida? I am trying to save the life of a very neglected beardie, but my hubby says we can only get it until it can be placed in a home or rescue. It has MBD and is malnourished. I only have a few days to find a place that can take it as we already have three and do not have room for another. Anyone from Central Florida?
K. Tomorrow I am going to try to get the person who has it to surrender it.
Wish me luck. It is covered in poop, in a tiny viv with a turtle and a water bowl covered in mold. No UVB. Heartbreaking.
No. I was stonewalled. This is a teacher who has this animal in deplorable conditions. When I approached the school about it, even telling them that these animals on damp, dirty, poo filled substrate are in danger and are a danger to students who may handle them, I was simply told that the teacher is a reptile expert and that was it.
An expert...really? With a turtle and a bearded dragon together in a filthy viv? I don't know what else to do. The teacher took it home for the summer, but maybe he at least read my letter where I explained what a bearded dragon needs to survive....clean water, greens, uvb, heat lamp, etc. I tried.
