Nathaniel, Cierra, Castiel, Freya, Grrl; RIP GABRIEL

We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

Thanks Tammy, Titan is at peace now and that's all that matters and having Puff has put someone into the space where Titan was, it would have been hard seeing an empty space. She's become a part of the household, it's just not easy for her to be in the bedroom, as she's used to being in the living room. But I can't put her in the living room permanently, as have no room there. So she does get to be on the ramp daily, too, gives them all something to beard about :lol:

I am so sorry Deb, you gave Titan a good happy life while he was with you. He just couldn't do it anymore so went to a place where he will always be whole and healthy waiting on his mommy to join him someday. I hope Puff will ease some of the pain although you can never replace Titan, he is happy Im sure you are helping another dragon. He is smiling his beardie smile down on you hun. God Bless.

Hi Tonja, thanks for the kind words. I got a card today from my vet "In memory of Titan", it was so sweet of them to all sign it, too. I know Titan is in a better place, he's out of pain and that's all I could do for him. He'll always be a part of my beardie family.

I hope you had a good Xmas day, all of my sibs & families are oot, so I was alone with Mom and Dad, which was very relaxing. We had lunch instead of dinner, it was really good, then played a word game called Upward, like Scrabble and my Mom beat us both, as usual :lol: My dad had basal cell surgery last week on his right ear, the 4th this year, and he's now lost 2/3 of his ear, just has lobe and a bit above it, so he's recovering very well, still bandaged, though. It was good to see him with good colour in his face, finally.

Puff is not really settled in yet, she prefers to be on the ramp, as she's used to being in the living room, but I don't have any room there for her, I'd have to put one of the boys in the bedroom, which I don't want to do. So she'll have to get used to being on her own, I think that's what's bugging her, she's used to lots of activity. We'll sort it out.

I have some pics I'll put on tomorrow, being home means lots of pictures being taken...just can't help myself!

Yesterday I had Leo in one sink and Gabriel in the other sink, soaking away. I'd left the kitchen for a minute & heard a lot of splashing & came back to this, Gabriel had pooped & decided to jump on top of Leo to get away from it :lol: Luckily there was no fighting as I'd been away for about 20 seconds!

Hi Gina, yes Gabriel is still my brat. I never know what he's going to do, so I don't even leave him out if I leave the house now.

I did have a very relaxing Christmas day, it was a lot of fun.

Hi Robinlynne, Christmas day was perfect for me this year. All the family will be at my mom's on New Year's day, that's going to be a lot of energetic fun!

Thresh is just beautiful and my pictures don't give her justice on her colours, she's more vibrant in person!

I'm glad you enjoyed your Christmas day. Rosie woke up after 1pm on Christmas eve. I had snuggles from both my girls that evening and, even though we left them home on Christmas day and went to my mother's home for Christmas day, I did have snuggles with Rosie and, later, Squirt as she was napping with her dad about 4 pm or so.

Wow Deb it has been forever since I have been on here last so much has happened. Let me go ahead and just say I'm so sorry about Titan I know all of the love you gave him and he knew it too. So glad you had a good Christmas and all of your other boys are just as cute especially Gabriel being a troublemaker. Puff is also as cute So now you have 5 boys and 1 girl correct?

Hi Matt, I just posted on your thread! Yes, now I have a girl, I always said, after Sweetie, that I'd never have a girl & now I have to eat my words. She loves to ignore them all, Gabriel goes nuts over her, even though he's 1/2 her age. Even Lonzo loves to black beard at her :lol: She's doing well, considering that she's been with her other mom since 2010, but she'll come around. I'm going to move her into the living room & move Leo into my bedroom.

Thanks for the kind works about Titan, he's sorely missed, my little guy. I only had him for less than a year, I'll be posting a memorial soon, it's very hard to put the words together, but when I do I'll post the link here so everyone can see it. When he got so sick I never took anymore pics of him, he lost 1/2 his weight and was just not Titan, so all the pictures I have of him, he's healthy. I sure miss him, it's as if it hasn't hit me yet, but I'm sure it will. At least he's at peace now and he'll be buried with his sisters when it's warmer out.

Except for my grandson Leo it's been a crappy year for me, so I'm so hoping 2014 will be a lot better!

Did you see the video of Gabriel trashing his tank? That was even before Puff moved in! He sounds a lot like what Ridley is doing, I think they think it's springtime. I had to replace all the newspaper in his tank today, so he has fresh newspaper to trash up again :lol:

Do you know what page the video was on and I'll go back and take a look at it. 2013 has also been a pretty bad year for me so here is to 2014 being better to us both. I know she will come around soon after seeing how great a mother you can be. :wink:
