Nathaniel, Cierra, Castiel, Freya, Grrl; RIP GABRIEL

We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

May Titan rest in peace... You weren’t here for very long, Titan, but you will have no more pain, no more sorrow, and I know you will have tons of beardie friends up there.


I’m really sorry about Titan..
He was a fighter, and so are you, you both bravely battled this horrible disease, sadly, it won... But Titan would want you to keep on fighting, he would want you to be strong, and brave. He will always be in all of our hearts, whether we met him or not.

I agree with you about the best pic of Titan, it looks like it was taken by a professional photographer.

I know how hard it is to have a pet put to sleep and my heart goes out to you. I found this online and I think if Titan could send you a message from the Rainbow Bridge it might go something like this:

I miss my Titan a lot but I'm at peace because he's now at peace. I still have 6 beardies to care for, so that is a solace.

Lori, I'm also hoping that Puff won't get into the egg business. She just ignored the three boys that were bearding at her. Gabriel was going nuts, he wore himself out at one point & passed out early, too. Today Puff is in her new tank, got it set up for her and Joanne and I are going to see if we can sanitize Titan's tank for her, as she's in a fish tank that is tall and long but only 12" wide. So we'll see.

And yes, Titan was my brave knight & now he's playing that role in Rainbow Bridge. I put that cream on Rubio's thingy, whatever it is, it was a bit reduced this am, so will continue to cover it daily with that silver cream as it seems to be working. They all pooped in the bath today (Didi is finally asleep) so Rubio can sleep if he wants to, but I'll let him make that decision. Right now he's wide awake, so he's going on the ramp. Gabriel has had enough of a turn. We're having a blizzard right now & he actually bobbed at the snow :roll: :lol: I'm glad you enjoyed Titan's photo's. I'm going to make up a memorial for him & post all his pics. He was healthy and happy for much of the time he was with me & that's what I need to remember now.

Oh Goonie, thanks so much for that beautiful card, the poem is perfect & exactly how I feel. I'll post the link to Titan's memorial here when it's done.

Hoopy, you said just the right thing, he was greatly loved and will be greatly missed, but seeing him so peaceful in death helped me greatly, he was in so much pain before he passed.

Oh Robinlynne, what a beautiful poem, it's going to help a lot to refer back to it. I so miss my Titan, but I really am at peace about my decision. I'm glad you loved my favourite pic as much as I did, it showed his personality so much, he was a proud dragon!
Glad you like Puff, she had them all bearding yesterday & this am, especially Gabriel, little horndog. He would love to mate with her!

Hi Sandy, thanks for the prayers. I so miss my little guy, but he's at peace now & that's what matters, what was best for him. You wouldn't have recognized him & he was dying, so it was best to take the pain away. Now he's with my girls & all our lost beardies in Rainbow Bridge, I'm sure that's where Roger went, too, as he loved animals and didn't care for humans much :shock:

Thanks Brandon, my vet, me and Titan fought that YF off once, but it came back with a vengeance and we couldn't control it anymore. Titan was 1/2 the dragon he'd been, completely covered with YF and felt waxy, he was in great pain and couldn't keep still the last few days. I know it was a relief for him and it was also for me when I took him to the vet for the last time. He looked so peaceful, so that made me feel better about my decision, as it's the most difficult decision to make. I'll miss him always, poor baby.

Hi Deb. I wanted to let you know, I'm looking forward to funny stories about how Puff's presence affects your boys. :lol: I was laughing about Gabriel's reaction to her. I read it to Bill and he says "I don't want a male" When one of our girls glass dance, he's there right now saying "what's wrong?" He will get them out of the tank, looks to see if the temps are right, etc. This is good but sometimes there isn't anything wrong, they are just getting hormonal and want in the window (as squirt seems to like now) but it's too cold in the room to put them into the window, even with their mvb's turned over the window basking spot.

I like their reactions to Puff, Gabriel's funny, he goes crazy, then he winds down and rests, then he's off again. Puff's tank is nice and warm now, so it's time to put Leo out. It's funny, but when I put one of the boys out, Gabriel goes just as crazy :lol: He's my funny man :lol: I agree with Bill, though, no males in your house! That would just drive you all nuts!

Hey Deb.. I'm so sorry to hear about Titan..atleast he's in a better place now. He had a great mom and he was loved so much. I couldn't stop crying as I read through all the things, Nathan came over and hugged me, telling me it was ok. Mike got me the calendar for Christmas and it came today.. I was going through it showing them all the beardies I knew and telling their stories. Mike was amazed with Titan and all his brothers and said you're amazing to take in and care for all of them. Puff is a lucky girl to now have you in her life as well. Hugs to you and may you have Happy Holidays with your family and friends.
