We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy
Deb and my six dragons :D      :( :love5:

Thanks Esther, I was up with Titan until 3a, then I needed to get a bit of sleep. He was still breathing this am, but very shallow breaths. I'm not sure if he'll make it to the vet, we'll see before we leave. He's had tons of snuggles and knows how much I love him and that he'll be terribly missed.

Aww, it's good you had some time with him before he has to go.

It's may seem early, but this is his time. We all have clocks, they are constantly going until one day, they stop in their tracks, and that is our time to go.

Oliver will also be waiting for him.

So I'm back from the vet & Titan looks so peaceful, the vet took him in the back room to give him the injection and brought him back wrapped in his favourite blanket. So he's wrapped up, in a box, in my freezer until I can bury him. Then I'll be getting LOTS of flowers to plant in the garden after he's buried, I do this every year as a memorial to all my lost babies.

I took Rubio to the vet, too, she checked his heart, lungs and gums, all clear! The spot he has looks like calcified scales and hasn't gotten any bigger in 2 weeks, so I'm to put silver cream on it daily until I see it diminishing. Otherwise, he's perfectly healthy & it's not YF!

Puff has now moved in, my friend Jen is working graveyards on her new job, and long hours, so felt she couldn't give Puff the attention she needs. she on the ramp & the boys are in awe & have been showing her their best beards  She's more interested in watching TV, though. I have to just clean out her tank and put her stuff in it; Joanne has some cleaner from the hospital where she works that she thinks will work fine on Titan's tank, so it's on the balcony; I've already put Lysol all over the insides & will leave it there overnight, so we might be able to get it cleaned up enough for Puff, as the tank she's in is only 12" wide. We'll see, after Joanne comes over with the stuff from the hospital. Meanwhile, after the Lysol has sat in the tank overnight, I'm going to clean it the Clorox disinfectant bleach. Then we'll see.

Have pictures to post, but have to eat lunch now, will come back later.

Oh Deb, I am so soooo sorry to hear about Titan. I have been going through some personal things so I just got to read the threads. He gave such a good fight and it is good that you made that decision even though it was a hard one to make. He is in a better place now and you have another beardie that will be needing your attention now along with all of your other babies. Titan and Parker and all the others will be playing together somewhere where they can never get sick again!

My prayers are with you and I think it is so great that you are still in good spirits and staying so strong. God bless!! <3

I'm sorry, Deb. :'(

It's beautiful that you plant flowers for your babies. What a lovely thing to do. I'm glad Rubio is in good health and that Puff found her way to you.

You and Titan are in my thoughts.

Mary

Thanks both of you, for your good wishes. Puff has settled in very well and I put the silver cream on the strange patch on Rubio's side. If necessary I'll have a biopsy done if the cream doesn't work, giving it only a week to see what happens.

Thanks Esther. I did get some pictures from the last few days but wouldn't take any of Titan, he was so changed you wouldn't have recognized him, so I'll post my favourite pic of him:

Here's Titan in his best days:

With Gabriel:

And my very favourite:

So here are pics from the last few days:
Rubio, still in his food dish

Puff, she spent the day on the ramp, made the boys sit up & take notice

My friend Jen:

And my favourite dog, Deja, and no she doesn't have red eyes, just the camera angle:

Her eyes are even worse in this picture!

Didi, I woke him up, he was not amused:

Leo wasn't amused either "keep that box out of my face!"

Lonzo giving me the eye:

Didn't wake up Gabriel, though:

And that's it, just set up Puff's tank, see how she likes it, not a lot of room but she'll be ok. Not sure where she sleeps, though, will up the CHE later tonight when she falls asleep. I'm going to give her a snuggle in a minute, see if she likes her new mom.

Sweetie had more yellow/orange In her beard but otherwise, I'd say there's a resemblance. She has never laid an egg and I'm hoping she never will. That was the issue with Sweetie and led to her death. She's a sweetheard, she's in her tank right now getting used to it.

She may not lay any eggs. I hope, as you do, that she doesn't. Out of the 7 female beardies we've had, the only one that laid eggs was Rosie. She's a few months over 5 years old now and she only laid eggs 3 springs in a row.

Goodbye Sweet Titan, you will be missed.

I was looking for something to say for Titan and remembered one of my favorite quotes from the miniseries Alice (from SyFy), Hatter says to the White Knight "Your work here is done, brave knight". I've been thinking about that quote all day today, as I was thinking of you and Titan he was your brave knight :).

The photos of him are great (I love the one of him climbing the screen :)).

Welcome Puff, what a pretty girl. Your boys are going to go nuts for her, I can just see the bearding and bobbing

I'm glad to hear that Rubio is good (thank goodness for no YF).

Sending more hugs to you and your babies :D

Sorry about Titan, Deb. I was thinking about it today :( At least you have a girl in the house again to give the boys the run around!

Does this look like a healthy beardie

Aww your profile picture is precious ❤️‍🩹
Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
